singing anyone?
Generally on Tuesday nights I play basketball.
And quite enjoy it too. It’s a good laugh and a good run.
But with a couple of my friend’s heading back to Australia at the end of the month, they decided that as part of their Farewell Month they wanted to go to a karaoke bar.
Not just any pub that does karaoke – mind you – but a full blown karaoke bar with private rooms and free champagne.
The place that we went to last night was Lucky Voice in Soho. There was a group of eight of us and we had booked the room for three hours.
Originally when I was told that we had booked the room for three hours I was a little shocked. I mean really, how long can a group of eight possibly sing along (badly) to a wonderfully obscure variety of songs?
Longer than three hours it seems, as they gave us a little extra time and then had to physically remove us from the room.
I do love the songs that turn up in a karaoke session too. Something it shows the most popular songs of the years that a particular person was growing up; it shows the music that you’re parents were keen on and it shows the most popular songs of the last five years as seen by you.
For your reading entertainment, here’s a small selection of the songs that we harmonised along to:
Total Eclipse Of The Heart – Bonnie Tyler
Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen
Mr Brightside – The Killers
You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me – Dusty Springfield
Holding Out For A Hero – Bonnie Tyler
Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen
And that’s just the ones that I chose

Sounds fun. Hope you don’t mind. I tagged SoHo as I work down here, but live uptown. Just jumping in to see what people are up to.
