inflatable electric cars: surround your body in bliss

A start-up in California with their upcoming electric car, the Whisper™. has taken the same sort of airbag technology developed to safely land recent NASA missions on Mars and used it to create an inflatable polymer car frame in which they pack all the essentials for it to actually be considered an automobile.

An inflatable car sounds pretty cool to me, especially one that they are claiming you could “drive it off a cliff without serious injury” – some of me hears a challenge in that.

I also have a really vivid James Bond scene running through my head, when as Bond is being chased through London, he suddenly drives his car off the Embankment and splashes into the Thames. Thinking he’s done for now, his pursuers get out of their cars, guns blazes and stand up on the railing ready to shoot him as he surfaces, only to see him cruise away in his inflatable car.

Hey, I know that’s it’s kinda been done before (the Lotus was a submarine people), but I can still see it!
